The Spring/Summer 2023 collection is deeply rooted in India, where Skall Studio took its beginning. Going back to the Indian roots, the collection celebrates traditional Indian craftsmanship and the holistic way of thinking. From delicate handloom linen styles, woven by local weavers in Bhagalpur, India, to styles in natural dyes made from Indian plants. Acacia brown extracted from the bark of acacia and natural indigo.
The former Indian princess of Jaipur and style icon, Maharani Gayatri Devi, has always been a great source of inspiration for the Skall sisters, and also for this collection. With her Indian yet western and feminine yet masculine style she embodies the Skall Studio DNA. Romantic white dresses in schiffli and scarf inspired dresses and tops as well as striped styles with smock details are also part of the collection, while short blouses with wide sleeves and flower embroidery paired with wide tailored pants sums up the western-Indian focus.
For this season more outerwear has been added to the collection in terms of classic coats in navy and caramel, and parka inspired jackets in heavy cotton with detachable sleeves – made to last a lifetime. As something new, the outerwear and tailored styles are now available with cotton lining, and a cotton label has been added to all styles, as Skall Studio believes every little detail matters.
Besides styles in GOTS certified cotton, styles are made of natural materials such as recycled cotton and cashmere as well as pure linen, hemp and wool. As always, the Danish signature knitwear is part of the collection – spun in one of the last remaining spinning mills in Denmark and afterwards knitted and stitched by hand in one of the last remaining knitting factories in Denmark. As craftsmanship will always be important to the Skall sisters – in Denmark and India as well as in the rest of the world.
