Skall Studio Olga Knit knitting pattern. (OBS this is NOT including yarn)
Olga is a perfect companion for autumn. It can’t all be cable knits, so with the Olga Knit, we wanted to try something different. We’re deeply inspired by the 1960s in terms of style, music, art, literature, and culture. Our parents played records by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Joan Baez, and our mother, an old hippie, would play along, her long hair flowing. We are nostalgic by nature, but there is something deeply special about this period. The 1960s also marked the beginning of a growing awareness around environmental care, with voices like Linda McCartney’s helping to shape the conversation a message that still resonates deeply with us today.
The stripes in Olga are our knitted homage to 1960s patchwork. Each stripe is crafted using a different technique: some in stockinette, others in reverse stockinette, seed stitch, or ribbing. Had Olga been made in the ’70s, it might have had a looser fit, perhaps with fringes and bold shades of orange, purple, and brown. Our version is lighter, more feminine. And stripes they never go out of style.

CONSTRUCTION
Olga Knit is worked top-down. First, the back yoke is worked flat. Then stitches are picked up for each shoulder, and increases are made for the neckline before the shoulders are joined to form the front. At the underarm, the work is joined in the round and the body is worked downwards. Stitches are then picked up around each armhole, and the sleeves are worked in the round using the Magic Loop technique.
Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline, and a rib is worked in the round. The ribbing is folded to the inside and sewn or knitted down to finish. Right and left refer to the wearer’s right and left side.
